When told I was to interview a “psychic healer,” I had no idea what to expect. It the age of Psychic Friends Network and the current barrage of self-proclaimed new age clairvoyants, mediums, channelers and outright mountebanks, I certainly had my share of healthy skepticism. Sharon Gerber was nothing of the sort. She welcomed me into her sophisticated, “normally” decorated apartment, (okay, she does have a vast array of crystals), wearing a tastefully tailored, “normal” pantsuit. Operative word: normal. The last thing I would categorize her as is flaky. By appearance, the most striking thing about Ms. Gerber is her eyes. They’re akin to the strange light blue of a husky’s. She says some people do tend to get lost in them. They are rather captivating. TALENTS PROVEN A separate examination involved the feat of correctly diagnosing a doctor’s patients in Los Angeles without personally meeting them. Her findings matched the doctor’s official medical diagnosis. After the lab tests in 1975 she said she first knew without a doubt that she could alter her own physical body as well as others. Gerber says she doesn’t need to see a person. She can and has worked with people over the phone. DEPTH OF GIFT SPECIALTY WELL-KNOWN CLIENTS Most high profile clients prefer to maintain a confidential relationship. However a well known singer pianist client, Michael Feinstein says, “I’ve known Sharon for over ten years, and am grateful for her life changing transformational work. She’s helped me with every conceivable situation from health and business to the deepest, most personal matters.” SAFE ENVIRONMENT “I then do a reading of the body and see what topics need to be addressed. As we talk my energy helps bring the pain to the surface. I teach the person how to simply let the pain out, basically through the breath. This is not anything I learned. I just somehow know what to do or say. I never force it. I simply allow it to happen.’ PROBLEM SOLVING “I’ve worked with all kinds of diseases and illnesses. Often the ailment is the manifestation of an emotional problem stemming from an earlier traumatic or negative experience. Many times I work cooperatively with a client’s therapist s or doctor.” “An example of this is a man I worked with who was to compete in the Senior Olympics in gymnastics. He was having problems with his knee. I saw that when he was a kid he had a bicycle accident. I asked him what happened when he was six that involved a bicycle. ‘Oh, I remember that!’ he said. His mother had gotten very angry at him for being careless. He in return was very angry with his mother for seemingly not caring about his injury. Something in his life had stirred up that memory, and the anger from it was debilitating his body. We cleared that up quickly and simply. He was back in the competition again.” “I’ve been working with someone a lot this week who has cancer. It all goes back to situations from her childhood that cause cancer to evolve. We’ve already arrested it, and there is no longer a need to operate.” “Something just happens when I’m around. People have been coming to me for healing ever since I can remember. I can raise and lower people’s blood pressure, return energy into limbs scheduled for amputation (an accomplishment for which medical doctors present didn’t acknowledge, although they were first-hand witnesses). I’ve worked with everything from leukemia to tennis elbow.” “It’s not all crisis work. I have clients that come to me on their birthdays, for general tune-ups, or simply for insight. Not every physical ailment has an emotion issue attached to it either, I might add. A client may simply need to have their chemistry balanced or stress released.” WHAT IT FEELS LIKE “It’s mandatory that the client want to have healing,” she explained. “It’s been my experience that some people are not ready to let go of their pain. Timing is important. Some I can take into readiness, others I have to turn away or recommend other procedures until they are ready to face their issues.” I wondered if she ever feels overwhelmed, what with having the ability to instantly see what’s wrong with people. “Can you tune it out?” I asked. “I have to. Years ago I was to sensitized to everything. I would go to a restaurant and know if the chef was angry, for example. But I’ve learned to disconnect. Being real grounded is essential. Although I love helping people, I need to be able to stop working and just hang out with my friends.” NO TRESPASSING “Unfortunately, some people just want to use me for my gift. I leaned early on how to tell my real friends from the false ones.” I asked what she though of such organizations as the Psychic friends Network. “I’m really against it,” she said with stern conviction. “Not that there aren’t good psychics out there, but the format and the way in which they give information is often irresponsible. For instance, a psychic may tell a woman she will meet a tall man with dark hair that she’s going to fall in love with on a certain date. This woman may then go out and pursue a relationship with someone completely wrong for her, based on that physical description. I once had a client who had an astrologer tell him that he would never be in a happy romantic relationship. When I heard this I called the astrologer and yelled at him. True, my client did have a lot of issues to work out, but we are ultimately in charge of our destinies. A lot of these organizations cause clients to become dependent upon them. I believe in the absolute opposite. I try to help people clear issues up and get them operating on their own at full capacity.” MY SESSION There was much more, but I’m afraid it’s just too private for print. However, as she looked at me while making various sounds, I did feel tension leaving those spots we were discussing. When I left, I had virtually forgotten about this damn cold I’ve been battling. I know you maybe reading this with one eyebrow raised, as I might have. All I can say is that I felt physically, emotionally and mentally rejuvenated. I also got answers to some things a year in therapy had failed to produce. ENJOYABLE WORK
